DataGardener MCP is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that gives AI agents such as Claude direct, read-only access to DataGardener’s UK company intelligence. Connected agents can answer questions in natural language, with the source, date and company registration number attached to each record.
AI tools can now reason and act, but they are only as good as the data they can reach. Today we are launching DataGardener MCP, a new way to put our UK company intelligence directly in front of AI agents, with its own home at datagardener.ai.
Key facts
- What it is: a remote MCP server for UK company, financial, lending, procurement and property data
- Data scale: 17M+ UK company records from 40+ verified data sources, updated daily
- Coverage: twelve connected intelligence layers
- Access: read-only tools, authorised with OAuth
- Compatibility: used with Claude on web, desktop and mobile through Connectors, and works with any MCP client that supports remote servers with OAuth
- Security: ISO/IEC 27001, ISO 9001 and Cyber Essentials certified, with UK data storage throughout
What is DataGardener MCP?
DataGardener MCP is a Model Context Protocol server. MCP is an open standard that lets AI applications such as Claude connect to external data and tools.
Once connected, an AI agent can ask questions of DataGardener’s intelligence in natural language and get answers with the evidence attached. Every record can carry its source, its date and the company registration number it belongs to, so answers can be checked rather than taken on trust.
What data does DataGardener MCP cover?
It draws on the same intelligence as the DataGardener platform: 17M+ UK company records from 40+ verified data sources, updated daily. These are organised into twelve connected layers:
- Company profiles
- Filed financials
- Directors
- Ownership
- Risk
- Lending
- Public procurement
- Public spend
- Property
- Contacts
- Local economies
- International trade
Who is DataGardener MCP for?
- Lenders and brokers can have an agent find refinancing opportunities from charge history and filed accounts.
- Procurement teams can investigate a supplier across ownership, risk, awards and spend in one question.
- Councils and public bodies can connect procurement, published spend and local-economy data to their AI assistants.
- Product and AI teams can build UK company intelligence into their own agents without building the data infrastructure, through the developer tools.
New to MCP? Our plain-English guide, What is MCP?, explains the standard for UK businesses, and MCP vs API covers when to use which.
Is DataGardener MCP secure?
Yes. Connections are authorised with OAuth, the tools are read-only, and each connection sees only the modules its DataGardener entitlement allows.
DataGardener Solutions Limited holds ISO/IEC 27001, ISO 9001 and Cyber Essentials certification. We are a Certified B Corporation and a Crown Commercial Service supplier on G-Cloud 14, with UK data storage throughout.
How does DataGardener MCP fit alongside the platform and the API?
Nothing changes for existing customers. DataGardener MCP is the third way into the same intelligence:
| Route | Best for |
| Platform | People working interactively |
| Company Data API | Fixed integrations |
| DataGardener MCP | AI agents that decide which tools to call |
MCP access is added to a customer’s entitlement.
Which AI tools work with DataGardener MCP?
DataGardener MCP has been used with Claude on web, desktop and mobile through Connectors. Any MCP client that supports remote servers with OAuth authorisation can connect.
